Learn to Sing

My Philosophy: As a teacher, I believe that there are certain building blocks of vocal technique which are necessary to every singer’s growth. I think once we understand what goes into making a good and productive sound, it’s a lot easier to make that sound. I think singing should be fun. I absolutely love what I do and I love bringing that joy and knowledge of the voice to others. I am very interested in knowing what you, the student is thinking about how you’re singing. We’ll work together to bring you a strong understanding of vocal technique and answer any questions you have.

Additionally, I believe there is a strong connection between vocal technique and the intention of the character. Every word of every song carries meaning and it’s our job as the singer to discover the true character of the song. Understanding what you’re singing about makes the experience of singing so much more fun for you and for your audience as well.

What we’ll work on: After a few short weeks together, you will already have a firm understanding of the building blocks of singing. We’ll have learned a handful of songs where we will be able to work on our technique in material that you enjoy singing.  I am open to working in whatever genre excites you! I have students who perform in Musical Theater, Classical, Jazz, Pop,  Rock, Folk and Gospel Music.I offer Private Voice Lessons, Group Voice Classes and audition preparation.

Performance Opportunities: Every few months we will have “visiting hours” where friends and family will be welcome to join your lesson. They will be able to sit in and hear all of the great work you are doing. In addition twice a year(sometimes more depending on interest), I host a recital for all of my singers where they get to perform in front of each other and friends and family. We will have enough time to prepare so that you, the singer will be able to feel fully confident and prepared for this exciting feature performance.
